2012 Kentucky Derby

With all of my efforts that I have made to update this site in time for the Kentucky Derby, I actually didn’t get to make my Kentucky Derby predictions. So this post is basically going to be a wrap up of my Kentucky Derby experience.

I have made many changes to the pages on this site include a lot more literature for you to read if you are a beginner at Horse Racing. Now that I am caught up with that, I will be able to make a proper prediction for the Preakness Stakes in two weekends and the Belmont Stakes a couple of weeks later.

The winning horse for the 138th running of the Kentucky Derby is I’ll Have Another (15 to 1), who was raced by Mario Gutierrez. Bodemeister finished 2nd to Place and Dullahan came in 3rd for the Show.

The payouts were (Win/Place/Show) 32.60/13.80/9.00 for I’ll Have Another, 6.20/5.60 for Bodemeister and 7.20 for Dullahan. The $2 Exacta (19-6) paid out $306.60, the $1 Trifecta (19-6-5) paid out $1,532.80 and the $1 Super (19-6-5-13) Paid $48,046.40.

It was a thrilling race and I did have a chance to win the Trifecta until I’ll Have Another made a final push past the other horses in the lead. He ended up winning by 1 1/2 lengths.
